Mandal group has started its business in agro trade since 1936. Late Nikunja Behari Mandal started the business of trading of paddy , oilseeds, Dal and other agro based products at the tiny town of Jhargram in west Bengal. In 1965 his two sons Bhabatosh Mandal and Laksmi kanta Mandal diversified the business into seeds , fertilizers, pesticides, oilseeds , non edible vegetable oil and oilcakes trading. Later on sri Bhabatosh Mandal started his own manufacturing unit for crushing of Non conventional Seeds of Neem, Mahua, kusum,karanja, linseed, West Bengal Red varieties of sesameseeds etc. The seeds were crushed in expellers and filtered in filterpresses. The seed crushing unit is operating in the name of M/s Mandal Agro Industries. A rice milling unit of capacity 24 MT per diam came up in year 2000 in the name of Grami Agro pvt ltd and a vegetable oil refining unit came up in 2003 in the name and Style of Mandal edible products pvt ltd. Crude Til oil, palm oil and rice bran oil are the main vegetable oil processed in the factory.
